Parents….the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters 🏀⛹🏽♂️ are coming to town!! Beaumont Little Dribblers has been offered special pricing for our parents and players…
We have tickets available at $20 (face value is $34.50) and no limit on how many you wish to purchase.
Coaches will be collecting money so if you are interested, you need to contact your coach and get them the money by Tuesday, January 16th so that tickets can be given to coaches to pass out on January 20th at the first games.
The game is Sunday, January 28 at 4:00 p.m. at Ford Park.
Tryouts are really simple and nothing for your player to fret over. First of all, it’s just an evaluation.
They will be asked to go through some simple basketball moves…chest pass, bounce pass, dribble, shoot from outside and from free throw…no one is expecting perfection, just for them to try. EVERY CHILD WHO HAS REGISTERED WILL BE DRAFTED TO A TEAM.
Once it is your child’s turn, it will take less than 30 seconds for them to complete their turn. They are then free to leave.
As I said in a previous posts, coaches will call after the draft. If you have not received a call by Jan. 2nd, contact Jay Anderson (preferably by EMAIL) and he will call the coach. PLEASE ONLY CONTACT JAY…it causes lots of confusion if parents say kids are on the same team when they might not be and coaches start getting calls. LET THE COACHES CALL YOU. Please do not share other people’s phone numbers. Once you know your coach, you will have that contact information.
We know who the coaches will be by tryouts. If you marked head coach on your volunteer form, you will be contacted before tryouts. Jay will call you. Again, LET HIM CALL YOU.
Most importantly, let your kids know that BLD is about fun. We are not a competitive league. Our main goal is to teach basketball skills and to teach teamwork so that they can take those skills to the next level, be that middle school or AAU.
Right now, relax and know that we have been doing this for a while and we will let you know what’s next. I try to put information here, but sometimes I forget until I’m reminded by a question.
Please read through all posts before sending an email or private message because most likely, the answer is either here or somewhere on Facebook. I got the information back on the website under the BLD 2017-2018 link.
Parents will be contacted following the draft…which is after tryouts…from coaches with info about practices.
You should know which team and when you will practice before the end of December. Practices will start in January.
Please know that the BLD board will NOT be answering questions during the two week holiday break. You will be contacted so please wait for a call. If by January 2nd you have not gotten a call from a coach, then you can contact Jay. Please wait until then do that there is no cross information.
ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26 AT 3:00 PM.
This is an automatic stop set through the registration site. If you miss this deadline IN-PERSON REGISTRATION WILL BE WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 29 at 6:00 PM at AMELIA ELEMENTARY.
I will not be opening online again as we have to be able to get that information ready for coaches for tryouts. I have attached the tryout information here. Look at the division and the ages for that division to know when you should be at tryouts.
ALL AGES ARE AS OF AUGUST 1, 2017. If your child’s birthday hasn’t happened yet this year and he or she will be the next age up, they still have to tryout in the correct division. EXAMPLE: A 10 yr old who will turn 11 on December 1st will be in the 10U division per age requirements.
Our leagues this year will be:
6U (5-6 yrs)
8U (7-8 yrs)
10U (9-10 yrs)
12U (11-12 yrs)
6U (5-6 yrs)
8U (7-8 yrs)
10U (9-10 yrs)
THE ONLINE REGISTRATION SITE IS NOW ACTIVE AND CAN BE FOUND HERE!!!!
IF YOU FILLED OUT A REGISTRATION EARLIER, YOU WILL NEED TO DO ANOTHER REGISTRATION BECAUSE THE ONE YOU DID WAS IN TEST MODE. PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME YOUR REGISTRATION WAS VALID!!!
I am so sorry that there was this confusion today. I set it on a schedule so it would be available but I forgot to do one little thing and of course that is what caused the problem.
********ONLINE WILL CLOSE NOVEMBER 26 AT 5:00 P.M.
********The fee this year is $115.00 for all players.
********All players who are registered will be placed on a team.
********Tryout information is here: 2017-2018 League Information Sheet(2)!!!!
********In-person registration will be on Nov. 29 from 6:15-8 p.m. at Amelia Elementary School.
*********Our leagues this year will be BOYS 6U (5-6 yrs), 8U (7-8 yrs), 10U (9-10 yrs) and 12U (11-12 yrs) and GIRLS 6U (5-6 yrs), 8U (7-8 yrs), 10U (9-10 yrs).
*********Practices will begin January 2.
*********Games will begin January 20 and go through March 3.
*********The website is currently being updated with 2017-18 information because we are just getting the information finalized. It will be available as it is ready. Until we had online registration going and had a date for in-person, and until we knew when tryouts would be we could not update that information. The links will work as they are updated and I will have links on the Facebook group page as I get them online.
Please be patient as this all takes time and we all work full-time and have families so we are doing this as quickly as we can. I promise I am getting the information to you as I have it.
********The online registration form is easy to maneuver. If you registered players last year you have an account and you just need to log-in with your email and the password you used. Most of the information you entered will be saved there if you use your log-in.
Though it should not need to be said, there is not any 2017 information to share here until we get going. Yes, there is info from past seasons, but that’s because it’s a blog and that info stays here.
This page is mostly used for season information such as team schedules and game results. More information will be shared on Facebook, so if you haven’t already joined the page, now is the time.
The behind the scene work that is going on to get the season up and running is very chaotic. Be assured that we are working hard to get the kids on the court and playing the game they love.
I know that the information that you have been getting is confusing and that we keep pushing things further out, but we do not want to take one step without knowing what the next step will be.
As of today, Sunday, November 5th, the online registration site is scheduled to be live on Tuesday, Nov. 7th. This is giving us a day to do nothing but work on getting some things finalized and hopefully that happens by Tuesday morning.
